In daily data set files following level 2 products are included:
1) mixing layer height from aerosol backscatter (zmlaa) based on STRAT-2D algorithm,
2) aerosol layer heights (zal) also based on STRAT-2D algorithm (e.g. Schween et al., 2014; Haeffelin et al., 2012; Morille et al., 2007). Source dataset for the product is sups_rao_ceilo00_l1_beta_v00*.
Limitations: Measurements are only available if backscattering targets like aerosol particles and cloud droplets are present with sufficient quantity. It must be noted that the zmlaa is highly biased during full overcast and precipitation. Therefore, it is recommend to use zmlaa only if cloudiness is less than 5/8 octas.
