SAMD LMU
LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich
The LMU supersite in Munich combines fully automated operational cloud and aerosol characterization with intensive observational periods on a campaign basis. Cloudnet algorithms combine cloud radar, microwave radiometry, and ceilometer measurements to provide cloud information, and an Aeronet station characterizes aerosol 24-7. Retrievals of more sophisticated cloud, aerosol, and trace gas parameters are developed and tested using hyperspectral imaging observations, DOAS, sun photometer, and lidar systems. Standard measurements of radiation budget and meteorological situation are available as well.
The supersite is located in the city centre of Munich at a rooftop about 30 m above street level. LMU is the only HDCP2 supersite south of 50° latitude apart from the high alpine supersite UFS. Together with UFS it is closing a large gap in observational coverage starting 2017.
