HALO Photonics Doppler Lidar (instrument number 44) was installed at the observation site 'Lindenberg Meteorological Observatory - Richard Assmann Observatory' next to the windprofiler, and it has been operated 24/7 since 10/2012. Data integration is 180 seconds for one VAD scan with 24 azimuthal directions and an elevation angle of 75 degrees. In daily data set files following level 1 products are included: (1) Doppler velocity: This is the motion of the scattering target carried by the atmospheric flow along line of sight (LOS) (2) backscatter coefficient: standard output provided by the manufacturer (3) error estimation for Doppler velocity: theoretical uncertainty calculated using Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) as described in Pearson et al. (J. Atmos. Ocean. Technol., 26, 240-250, 2009)
Limitations: measurements only available if backscattering targets like aereosols and cloud droplets are present
Provenance: Doppler lidar data of Richard-Assmann Observatory, Lindenberg (DWD)
