HALO Photonics Doppler Lidar (instrument number 44) was installed at the observation site 'Lindenberg Meteorological Observatory - Richard Assmann Observatory' next to the windprofiler, and it has been operated 24/7 since 10/2012. In daily data set files following level 2 products (30 minutes averages) are included: (1) 3D wind vector components (u,v,w) (2) wind speed: speed of the horizontal wind (3) wind direction: direction of the horizontal wind (4) error estimations for 3D wind vector components (u,v,w), wind speed and wind direction (5) r2: coefficient of determination - provides a measure of how well observed radial velocities are replicated by the model used to determine u,v,w wind components from the measured line of sight radial velocities (6) nvrad: number of (averaged) radial velocities used for wind calculation (7) cn: condition number - provides a measure for the degree of collinearity among the Doppler velocity measurements used for the retrieval of the wind variables (u,v,w,speed,direction). The variables 5-7 are used for the calculation of the quality mask (qwind) to be applied to variables 1-4.
Limitations: measurements only available if backscattering targets like aereosols and cloud droplets are present
