Extension of HadISST and upgrade of CRUTEM and HadCRUT data sets

We have upgraded the monthly CRUTEM surface (air) temperature anomalies data set and the monthly HadCRUT combined land and sea surface temperature anomalies data set to version 5.0.1.0, and extended the HadISST1 sea surface temperature (SST) data set. All datasets are now available from January 1850 (CRUTEM/HadCRUT) or January 1870 (HadISST1) until including December 2020:
