Description
In 2011 a population survey on climate change and energy preferences was developed at the University of Hamburg. The aim of the study is the investigation of awareness, evaluation and expected consequences of Climate change in the population of the Federal Republic of Germany and their views on energy policy options. The study was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Cluster of Excellence "Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction (CliSAP)" EXC 177, University of Hamburg. The questionnaire was created by a multidisciplinary group, at that time at the University of Hamburg: Anita Engels, Herrmann Held, Otto Hüther, Irene Neverla, Beate Ratter, Mike S. Schäfer and Monika Taddicken.
This data set was created as part of a CliSAP project.
Last update of data set at ICDC: 2012
Parameters
The parameters result from the results of the survey.
Coverage, spatial and temporal resolution
Period and temporal resolution:
- collected in 2011
Coverage and spatial resolution:
- Germany
Format:
- SPSS
- CSV
Data quality
The data were collected in 2011 by TNS Emnid. Using random digit dialing (RDD) a random sample was determined from a population of adult Germans living in private househoulds with a landine. In multi-person househoulds the birth key was used to choose between members. The survey was conducted using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). After deducting random sample neutral failures a response rate of 23.2% was achieved. Due to various distortions in the sample, weighting procedures are recommended if a representative description of the German population is desired (see Hüther et al., 2012).
