From 20–24 October, the ARD Morgenmagazin (morning show) will broadcast live from the innovative FS SONNE (sun)—the jewel in the crown of Germany’s research fleet. The SONNE recently set sail for its maiden voyage. Guided by reporter Donald Bäcker, viewers will get a chance to peek behind the scenes of the valuable research base which cost €124 million. The ship provides space for a crew of thirty-five plus forty scientists.
Save the date! From 21–22 November, the floating research station will dock at the port of Hamburg. Interested? During Ship Open Day visitors are welcome to inspect cabins and state-of-the-art research facilities. Last but not least, an oceanographic exhibition will heighten the maritime experience on board. Further information is soon to follow.
