Launching successful research careers is a key mission of the CEN. Hence, in addition to providing students and doctoral candidates with disciplinary specializations, the Center’s degree programs focus strongly on interdisciplinary skills in climate and Earth system sciences.

The CEN School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences (SICSS) assumes a pioneer role in transdisciplinary education. SICSS was established through the Cluster of Excellence 'Integrated Climate System Analysis and Prediction' (CliSAP) in 2008.
