Yesterday, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with representatives of Scientists for Future, Fridays for Future, and the research and political communities at Bellevue Palace.
In the course of the conversation, the President and his guests especially discussed how the dialogue between the environmental movement, research and political communities can effectively move forward.
Climate change and climate protection represent massive challenges for democracy: answers to questions with major ramifications – and concerning not only environmental policy, but also social and economic aspects – have to quickly be found. Accordingly, the conversation addressed how the dialogue between representatives of diverse positions can successfully proceed, and how the public’s faith in democratic processes can be preserved.
