ATLANTIC- EUROPEAN NORTH WEST SHELF- OCEAN PHYSICS REANALYSIS FROM METOFFICE
Area: ATLANTIC- EUROPEAN NORTH WEST SHELF- OCEAN
Period: 1985-2014
Data available: YES
Institution: Met Office (UK), Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS)
Model: Forecasting Ocean Assimilation Model 7km Atlantic Margin Model (FOAM AMM7); Hydrodynamic calculations were performed by the NEMO system
Resolution: Coverage: European North-West continental Shelf and from 40°N, 20°W to 65°N, 13°E. The model is on a regular lat-lon grid of resolution 1/15° latitude by 1/9° longitude (approximately 7km square). A hybrid s-sigma terrain following coordinate system (following Siddorn and Furner, 2013) with 51 levels is employed in order to retain vertical resolution on the shelf. Products are interpolated onto 24 geopotential 'z' levels based upon the ICES standard depths.
Data assimilated: sea surface temperature data
Assimilation method: 3DVar NEMOVAR
Forcing and relaxation used: ERA-interim winds, atmospheric temperature, and precipitation fluxes; Horizontal boundary conditions were provided by the NOC global reanalysis prior to 1989 and by the GloSea reanalysis thereafter. Boundary conditions in the Baltic sea came from the IOM-GETM model. E-Hype data were used for river inputs.
